From 1st January 2007 Companies in the UK must include certain regularity information on their electronic communications including websites and email footers or could be breaching the Companies Act and risk a fine.

Such information is already a requirement for business letters but as a result of an update to the legislation of 1985 the duty has been extended to websites, emails and other electronic documentation.
The information should appear in the footer of every email sent from a company, to avoid having to decide whether each email is classed as a 'business letter'.
For websites this information does not have to appear on every page, many websites will already list this information, perhaps on their 'About us' or 'Legal info' pages.
